An Evening with JoePa.....without JoePa

Gosh, I have SOOOOO much to catch up on. I've been meaning to write for a couple of days, but I've been crazy busy....I can't remember the last time I was this busy! I guess I'll just start with Thursday.

I ended up leaving work a little bit early on Thursday so I could make sure my apartment was EXTRA clean for when Mom arrived. It was a pretty toasty day...95 degrees and humid....but my apartment stayed fairly cool. Mom arrived first...about 5pm. Sister got there about 15 minutes later. We all got changed and fixed our hair, then we were off to get some food.

We decided to go to The Grill on Chocolate Avenue. Its one of my favorites!  Everyone really enjoyed it! I got my standard Southwest Chicken salad, with cajun chicken...YUM! We didn't want to get crazy full because there were going to be hors d'oeuvres at the "Evening with Joe" thing.

We got to the Hershey Lodge right at 6:30....the start of the cocktail hour. There were TONS of people there...probably a good 400 or so. I was really surprised...I didn't know it was going to be such a big event! Also, I couldn't believe how beautiful (and BIG) the Hershey Lodge is! The check-in lines were arranged by last name....so Mom and I were in a different line from Sister. We were in line for a good 5 minutes and Sister came running up to us. She said, "You'll never believe this....Joe isn't coming! He has the flu, and said he was too sick to come!". I couldn't believe it! Turns out he was sending his assistant coaches instead. We were offered a refund, or a ticket to the Evening with Joe in Philadelphia, but we decided to stay.

After we checked in, we went in the cocktail room for hors d'oeuvres. They had an amazing spread! Not only did they have cheese, vegetable, and fruit trays, but they also had tons of hot hors d'oeuvres as well as meat carving stations! I was too full to eat, and we all kind of wished that we would have just saved our appetites for this cocktail hour! They also had a cash bar, and Sister got a glass of wine, and I got a beer :-)

I did get to see the one assistant coach...that I used to date in college. I was a bit weirded out when I saw him, but he came over to talk to my Mom, Sister, and me in between all of the people requesting to get pictures with him....and it wasn't awkward at all.  He asked if I was married yet, and I told him to pass our wedding invite on to JoePa for next year ;-)  Turns out he recently got married and had a baby.  In his words, "it all happened really fast".  HAHA

The actual program was really cool. I mean, I was still bummed that JoePa wasn't there, but I think the other coaches did a really nice job and made it enjoyable. They also had a question and answer session, which was fun. People were asking about the future schedules (which they said they already have booked up until 2021!!!!), and who the starting quarterback would be for the season.

After the program, we all drove back to my apartment, and then Mom left to drive home (after Sister and I both begged her to stay over so we could have a sleepover!). Sister and I got changed into our PJs, and watched a little TV, then it was bed time. We were both pooped.
