QOTD....Where was your wedding?
Thank you all so much for your responses yesterday!!!! Its so fun learning about you all! :-)
Ok girls, here we go for day 2 of QOTD.
Where did you hold your wedding ? Was it in your hometown, your spouse's hometown, where you were living at the time, a special place to both of you? Did you have it in a Church? JOP? Outdoors? For those of you not yet married, where do your dreams of your special day take you?
JS and I are getting married in the town where I went to college. I have dreamed of getting married there since I was a little girl. My parents would take my sister and me to campus (mainly for sporting events), and I just fell in love with the Chapel there. When I started attending college, I also attended services at the Chapel. From then on, whenever I pictured my wedding in my head, it was alwasy in the campus Chapel.
Thankfully, JS was 100% on board with this vision of mine. He could see how excited I was about this idea. Before we made the decision, we went to tour the Chapel, and he fell in love with it too. It is small and cozy....the max capacity is 125 (which includes the bridal party). We wanted to have an intimate setting, so this location is perfect. (its also only 2 blocks from where the reception is going to be!)
The Chapel is about 2 hours away from ALL of my family (and I do mean all of my family....everyone lives within 15 minutes of each other!). However, it will be a MUCH longer trip for JS's family. They live on the opposite side of the country, so it will be a major trip for everyone. But so far, everyone is thrilled to have a little get away....many of them have never been to this side of the country!
I look forward to hearing all of your stories!!!!! :-)

We got married in Savannah because we were living there at the time. This is obviously one of the prettiest cities so it worked out perfectly however it was only our closest family in a small ceremony. In June 2011, we are renewing our vows infront of about 150 people in a beach town in the South of Spain where I spend time growing up and I am beyond excited to be in the planning phases of this : ) Thankfully it is a huge tourist destination so a lot of my friends in London are taking a week off work to come out for it
ReplyDeleteI always wanted to get married in a little white church, and we ended up getting married in the little white chapel :) on Ft. Stewart. Since everyone in our families live so far away, we made a long weekend of it and spent lots of time in Savannah just like Expat Girl.
ReplyDeleteWe are getting married in my Fiance's hometown, in his church. Once we are married we will be moving to his hometown and attending the church he grew up in, so we figure we might as well start our marriage off the same way! My family only lives about 45 minutes away, so they will all still be able to make it.
ReplyDeleteThat's great that you found such a wonderful location!
ReplyDeleteWe got married in Boston...my hometown, Danny is from Ohio. It was hard, stressful and annoying trying to get everyone at one place! We had an amazing JP that I found on a military website, who donates her time for military weddings. It was amazing :)
